All Roads Lead Home/ Adopt a Family

The All Roads Lead Home (ARLH) program is a ministry which ‘adopts’ homeless families who are being moved into stable housing. It is our goal to assist as many families as our resources allow. From May to November, 2009, we have assisted five families with furniture, household goods and mentoring. We expect to assist one additional family by end of 2009, and possibly 6 more families in 2010. Support may be financial, such as helping pay arrears of utilities or phone bills; purchasing some household items; or providing bus tickets, etc. Most of the support will come from parishioners’ donations of furniture and household items, and our volunteers’ donations of time. Mentoring the family members is a significant component of the program and can last up to one year, depending on each family’s needs.

We welcome inquiries about donations of furniture and household goods, as well as offers of assistance. Volunteer positions include mentoring; finding and organizing items for donation to our families; driving and moving furniture and household goods; assisting our families with other needs such as ESL, computer skills, babysitting, job searches, etc. Please contact Don Tait, the chairperson of ARLH, at 403 246 9591 if you are interested in assisting in the ministry.
