Proclaimers (Readers) Ministry

When we come together for liturgy, we encounter God - in one another, in the sacramental actions and in the proclamation of the word of God.

Proclaimers have the task of making God present in the liturgy of the word for our community. It is the communication of the thoughts of God. We believe that a prayerful and yet powerful proclamation can touch and move the entire assembly. For this reason, the proclaimer must prepare to and properly deliver the word of God. A proclaimer should be prepared to spend a minimum of one hour per week in preparation for his/her scheduled proclamation. We proclaim the living word, not simply words on a page.

Prospective Proclaimers must attend a training session, usually held both in the spring and fall, before being assigned to the regular schedule.
